Marina del Rey, CA (August 25, 2023)— Marina del Rey, a picturesque coastal community in Los Angeles, will set sail into 2024 with new offerings including hotel renovations, restaurant openings, and the debut of renowned retail giants, REI Co-Op and Barnes & Noble.
Located four miles north of LAX, the seaside enclave is undergoing a striking transformation. With the exciting array of new developments on the horizon, visitors and locals alike can look forward to an enhanced experience in Marina del Rey that combines laid-back luxury, culinary delights, and picture-perfect waterfront views.
HOTEL RENOVATIONS & NEWS
Marina del Rey's hospitality scene is embracing a new era of luxury and comfort as prominent hotels undergo revitalizing transformations.
- Jamaica Bay Inn, Tapestry Collection by Hilton: The laid-back hotel located on Marina “Mother’s” Beach will undergo a renovation of its 111 guest rooms and suites. The redesigned rooms will reflect the property’s proximity to the ocean, weaving in nautical colors and textures as a nod to the Marina. The renovation will take place in the fall of 2023 just in time to showcase its newly renovated rooms and suites in 2024.
- Hilton Graden Inn, Marina del Rey: The property will embark on a renovation at the end of 2023, aimed at enhancing its 136 guest rooms and suites including their spacious loft studios, lobby, and on-site restaurant.
- Marina del Rey Hotel Redefines Space into Grab’ n Go: This chic boutique property will transform part of its current lobby area into a Grab’ n Go shop. Guests can expect grab-and-go options such as fresh brewed coffee, tea, cold pressed juices and convenient snacks including pastries and breakfast bites from local bakeries.
CULINARY NEWS
- Featuring handmade artisan pies baked daily, Winston Pies is set to open its waterfront location in the fall of 2023 at the open-air retail and dining destination, Boardwalk Shops.
- Pizza pie lovers will soon enjoy pizza by the slice when ROCA Pizza debuts later this year at Waterside Shops. The pizza chain serves Roman-style pizza with a California flair.
- For those with a sweet tooth, Crumbl Cookies will open a location this fall at Waterside Shops. The cookie shop will serve their famous chocolate chip cookie and other flavors through their weekly rotating menu.
- PLANTA Cocina, a plant-based Latin-inspired restaurant chain, opened its first West Coast location in Marina del Rey at Boardwalk Shops MdR in the summer of 2023.
RETAIL NEWS
- Specialty outdoor retailer REI Co-op opened its doors at The Boardwalk Shops MdR. The location will offer a wide assortment of apparel, gear, and expertise for camping, cycling, running, fitness, hiking, paddling, climbing, snow sports and more. For those who adventure on two wheels, a full-service bike shop will be staffed by certified mechanics. The store will also have a ski and snowboard shop with professional tuning, waxing and repairs.
- Retail bookseller Barnes and Noble will open in October at Waterside Shops. Shoppers can visit the store for books, magazines, newspapers, as well as electronics, games, toys, and more.
NEW ATTRACTIONS
- Marina del Rey’s newest party boat, Duchess Pub, opened in July 2023. The Duchess Yacht Service operates a 26-passenger pedal-powered pontoon boat offering harbor tours for groups of all ages. The new vessel is available for private charters as well.
