Located in the vibrant heart of the historic San Francisco Embarcadero, our LEED platinum sustainably designed facility is an unforgettable venue for everything from intimate gatherings to large events for 3,500 guests.

With spectacular views of both city and Bay—plus access to our lively landscape of hundreds of interactive exhibits—the Exploratorium’s waterfront home offers an exciting, imaginative setting for just about anything you can dream up.

Facility Rental Options

At Pier 15, the museum is divided into five galleries filled with hundreds of exhibits ranging from mechanical contraptions to artworks highlighting the beauty of the physical phenomena that surround us. Galleries are available to rent either individually or in combination. Evening and daytime options are available.

• The Osher West Gallery (500ppl) highlights social science exhibits, art pieces, interactive elements perfect for groups, and holds our iconic Tactile Dome.
• The Bechtel Central Gallery (1,200ppl) is our largest single gallery space perfect for live entertainment and large receptions. Here you can experiment with light, color, sound, vision, and hearing.
• The Moore East Gallery (450ppl) has sweeping views of the SF Bay and Treasure Island, and includes our Biology Lab, Cells to Self exhibits and other plants, animals, and living systems.
• The Fisher Bay Observatory and Terrace (200ppl) is another waterfront gallery with an adjoining terrace ideal for elegant seated dinners and daytime meetings. Exhibits showcase the surrounding landscape, climate, waterways, and maps.
• The Kanbar Forum (200ppl) has Meyer Constellation sound and state-of-the-art projection making it ideal for special media events including seminars, lectures, and film screenings. A fully customizable space with options for theater and cabaret seating.
