Like an ink-stained page from the past, The Eliza Jane is a time capsule where tales of the past blur into tales of today. Set in a transformed collection of 19th-century warehouses — including The Daily Picayune newspaper’s former headquarters — our New Orleans hotel is where our namesake, Eliza Jane Nicholson, made history as the first woman publisher of a major metropolitan newspaper in the country. With a sharp tongue and an even sharper pen, she turned this local penny paper into a national institution.
Then and now, Eliza Jane brings New Orleans’ stories to life, creating community and capturing visitors’ imaginations. And within these same walls, your New Orleans story begins.
