AUSTIN, TX, September 11, 2026 – The AT&T Hotel and Conference Center, located in the heart of Austin, today announced the completion of its comprehensive $35+ million renovation, elevating the stay experience for both leisure and business travelers. Since breaking ground in Spring 2026, this project modernized every facet of the hotel’s 297 guest rooms and expansive 85,000+ square feet of meeting space to meet the evolving needs of today’s travelers.
With the closure of Austin's Convention Center in late Spring 2025, the newly renovated AT&T Hotel and Conference Center now stands as a premier venue for conferences and events in the city. With advanced meeting technology, collaboration-focused features, and turnkey luxury, the hotel offers 'campus-style mini-wides' in collaboration with partner hotels in the University Hotel Collection — AT&T Hotel and Conference Center serves as the main hub but expands its capacity by linking five hotels within a four-block radius to provide 1,200+ guest accommodations for large conferences and multi-property events.
This extensive redesign reflects the hotel’s commitment to blending Texas heritage with modern luxury. Serving as a cornerstone of the University of Texas community, the hotel now seamlessly integrates historical elements with forward-thinking design, ensuring it remains a welcoming space for alumni, visitors, and conference attendees alike.
Nestled within the iconic University campus, the deliberate design of AT&T Hotel’s interiors creates an extension of the University itself, reflecting both timeless traditions and innovation. Hallways adorned with photographs, artifacts, and details celebrating the school's colors and roots invite guests on a journey, each piece carefully selected to echo the University's legacy of excellence.
The renovation was spearheaded by Texas-based Lake Flato, the Architect of Record and original architects of the property, in collaboration with Waldrop + Nichols Studio, the award-winning interior design firm. Both firms ensured the updated space reflects Austin’s local flavor while maintaining a modern sophistication.
“This is the University of Texas; change starts here. The renovation reimagines our space to better serve our guests while honoring the University and Austin’s unique culture,” said Alison Berg, General Manager of AT&T Hotel and Conference Center. “We’re excited to provide an elevated experience that blends tradition and innovation.”
A Design-Forward and Technologically Enhanced Conference Center
The AT&T Hotel and Conference Center’s new design aesthetic embraces a “Contemporary Texan” style, creating a comfortable yet elevated atmosphere. Key design and technology upgrades include:
Reimagined Presidential Suites
Among the most striking transformations to the hotel are the presidential suites, reimagined by Waldrop+Nichols Studio to celebrate the University of Texas.
"The presidential suites at AT&T Hotel were designed to celebrate and honor the campus in a subtle, yet memorable manner. As guests enter the room, they are greeted with custom-framed UT yearbooks from across the decades. The yearbooks bring a colorful, nostalgic dimension to the room,” shared Waldrop+Nichols Studio. “All color tones used in the furnishings relate directly to the UT brand, campus, and landscape. Custom Axminster area rugs were inspired by the ‘Six Pack’ six building layouts and surrounding buildings. A common theme of ‘three’ is woven into the design, directly paying homage to the clocktower’s iconic three vertical stacks. Subtle reflections of the locale are seen in the longhorn hardware, leather-wrapped sconces, and hair-on-hide decorative mirror."
