Opened in January 2026, Sydney welcome the re-opening the largest fish market in the southern hemisphere, following a $750m re-development that included a new architectural waterfront icon and 6,000sqm public space.
The new Sydney Fish Market at Blackwattle Bay is nearly ready to welcome visitors for a truly unique culinary experience. With a $836 million investment, the market features fresh produce, retail, and dining vendors in an open-plan waterfront setting. Five permanent art installations situated around the markets will honour local First Nations histories, offering an enriching cultural experience for visitors. Sustainability has been at the forefront of the development, with over 400 solar panels and a 5 Star Green Star rating, supporting NSW’s net zero commitment by 2050.
The market has 42 vendors including 19 fresh seafood wholesalers, casual dining options and cafes, elevated restaurants and specialty retailers. As the largest seafood market in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s expected to welcome over six million visitors annually.
