How much does destination selection really matter in an incentive trip?
For me, choosing a destination is not only about asking what there is to see, and do: the destination its part of the design.
The real question should be: How will people feel, connect and behave when they are there? What can this destination do for the group and for the purpose of the program?
Many clients asked me in regards El Calafate, what else to see apart the Perito Moreno Glacier, what else? 😊 And I always sense behind that question a little fear that perhaps it is not enough.
My response is simple the greatness of nature can’t be manufacture…
The inmense scale of Patagonia is what changes the perspective. When you stand in front of a landscape so vast, the things that normally occupy our attention suddenly seem small creating space to reset, reconnect, and be present with the people around you.
Perhaps that is why we need to travel a little further to put some real distance between everyday lives before we trully disconnect and achive great results: people slow down, conversations become more natural, real engahemnts.
The destination created space for this to happen naturally.
And that, for me, is why destination selection matters.
