Iceland's Convention Bureau, Meet in Reykjavík, returns to IMEX America, taking place October 13–15, 2026, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. The bureau will be represented by Hildur Björg Bæringsdóttir, Senior Manager MICE, who will be on hand at Booth E1508 to introduce trade visitors to Iceland as a compact, sustainable, and experience-driven destination for meetings, conferences, and incentive travel.
Meet in Reykjavík will be joined at the booth by a delegation of Icelandic partners: DMC Incentive Travel Iceland, g-events dmc | pco, Harpa Conference Centre, Iceland Challenge, and The Reykjavik EDITION.
“IMEX America gives us the chance to show planners across North America what a small destination can deliver at scale — genuine sustainability credentials, world-class venues, and experiences that are only a short drive from the conference room. We’re excited to welcome new partners to our delegation this year and to keep building on the strong interest we’ve seen from this market,” says Hildur Björg Bæringsdóttir, Senior Manager MICE at Meet in Reykjavík.
Partners Bringing Iceland to Life
The delegation's recent work illustrates the range of experiences on offer. DMC Incentive Travel Iceland recently delivered an incentive programme for around 220 guests from Herbalife, combining Blue Lagoon bathing, glacier snowmobiling, and a Viking-inspired feast at Ingólfsskáli with a private descent into a dormant volcano. “If you are looking for a DMC that can handle anything and everything, this is your company. They do not bring cookie cutter experiences to the table — they are always thinking about you as the client and the specific attendees’ experiences and expectations,” said a member of the Herbalife team. DMC Incentive Travel Iceland is also one of only a handful of Icelandic operators to hold the government-awarded Icelandic Gold Certification for quality, safety, and sustainability.
For g-events dmc | pco, nature is the venue. “Iceland’s greatest venue is nature itself. We create events that engage all the senses and bring people closer to places and experiences they simply cannot find anywhere else. Imagine a waterfall-view dinner or a dinner inside a 5,200-year-old lava cave only 30 minutes outside the capital,” says Gunnar Traustason of g-events dmc | pco, whose recent programmes have staged dinners beside some of Iceland’s most dramatic waterfalls and nearly a kilometre inside that lava cave.
Iceland Challenge DMC recently hosted a five-day technical study visit for members of Talonrakennusteollisuus ry, representing leading Finnish construction companies, combining visits to the Hellisheiði Geothermal Power Station and the Carbfix carbon capture site with a meeting at SI — The Federation of Icelandic Industries, alongside stops at Þingvellir National Park, Geysir, and Gullfoss. The programme reflects a trend Meet in Reykjavík is seeing across markets: purpose-driven journeys that pair professional learning and networking with sustainability insight and immersive Icelandic experiences.
Sustainability at the Core
Reykjavík continues to rank among the world’s most sustainable meetings destinations. According to the Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDS-Index), the city holds a place in the global Top 10, with a score of 86.59%. Meet in Reykjavík’s sustainability strategy rests on three pillars — environmental stewardship, economic responsibility, and social equity. Reykjavík’s electricity and district heating come entirely from renewable geothermal and hydropower energy, and Iceland has set a goal of full climate neutrality by 2040.
In December 2025, Icelandic bathing culture was added to UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity — international recognition for a centuries-old tradition built on community, equality, and informal social connection that translates naturally into incentive programmes and networking events designed around shared experience.
Compact, Safe, and Close to Nature
Reykjavík’s biggest advantage for planners is proximity. Within a short distance of a walkable, compact city centre, groups can reach glaciers, geothermal lagoons, volcanic landscapes, and whale-watching grounds — and still be back in Reykjavík in time for dinner. Iceland is also consistently ranked among the safest countries in the world and, according to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report, has been the most gender-equal nation for 16 consecutive years — factors that increasingly resonate with planners and their attendees alike.
A Growing Infrastructure for MICE
Iceland’s meetings infrastructure continues to expand. The Reykjavik EDITION, Reykjavík’s five-star hotel, joins this year’s delegation with over 500 m² of design-forward event space, including a ballroom for up to 300 guests with floor-to-ceiling glass and natural light, alongside a range of smaller studios for boardroom and reception-style gatherings. It is one part of a broader wave of hotel investment in the capital that also includes new and upcoming properties from brands such as Hilton, Hyatt Centric, and Radisson Red — expected to bring Reykjavík’s hotel room capacity past 6,800 by the end of the decade. Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre, the Mies van der Rohe Award-winning venue on Reykjavík’s waterfront, offers more than 6,600 m² of adaptable conference space, including the 3,500-capacity Eldborg hall, and has been named “Best MICE Centre in Europe” by Business Destinations. The venue remains the city’s flagship for large-scale conferences and continues to introduce new experiential formats for groups, including the Volcano Express exhibition.
Momentum Behind the Destination
Reykjavík’s growing calendar of international conferences underscores its appeal to organisations with sustainability and knowledge-sharing at their core. The Arctic Circle Assembly returns to Reykjavík in October 2026, bringing together leaders from science, politics, and industry to discuss the future of the Arctic, while events such as the Reykjavík Global Forum – Women Leaders and Iceland Innovation Week continue to draw international decision-makers to the city each year.
