JW Marriott Lima and JW Marriott El Convento Cusco are participating in Ceviche, The Movie, a culinary and cultural documentary that explores the history, diversity, and identity of one of Peru’s most iconic dishes.
Ceviche transcends gastronomy to become an expression of identity, tradition, and national pride. Under this premise, Ceviche, The Movie was created by chef and entrepreneur Rodrigo Fernandini and directed by Fernando Landavere, with JW Marriott Lima and JW Marriott El Convento Cusco serving as partners and supporters of the project.
Throughout its 78-minute journey, the documentary travels through Chiclayo, Cusco, Lima, and Manhattan, exploring the history and stories behind 17 different ceviche recipes. The film highlights how the dish has evolved over time, embracing diverse cultural influences while accompanying the Peruvian diaspora abroad.
Presented through narratives in Spanish, Quechua, and Japanese, the documentary offers a rich and diverse perspective on a dish that continues to represent Peru, regardless of how its ingredients, techniques, or locations may vary.
For JW Marriott hotels, participation in this project reflects a commitment to creating meaningful experiences that allow guests to discover the essence of each destination through its culture and gastronomy.
“At our hotels, we believe gastronomy is one of the most authentic expressions of a destination’s identity. Being part of Ceviche, The Movie represents an opportunity to support an initiative that celebrates one of Peru’s greatest cultural symbols and introduces it to new audiences,” said Gabriela Mena, Director of Sales & Marketing for JW Marriott Lima, JW Marriott El Convento Cusco, and Courtyard Lima Miraflores. This connection is also reflected in the hotels’ culinary offerings, where local ingredients, traditions, and Peruvian talent play a central role in the guest experience. At JW Marriott El Convento Cusco, for example, this vision comes to life through a contemporary interpretation of the traditional warm ceviche, prepared using Andean ingredients and techniques.
As part of this project, JW Marriott Lima and JW Marriott El Convento Cusco reaffirm their commitment to promoting Peruvian cuisine internationally and strengthening Peru’s position as a world-class gastronomic and cultural destination.
“Ceviche is much more than a recipe. It is a symbol of identity, creativity, and national pride. Through projects like this, we can help ensure that Peru’s stories, traditions, and flavors continue to inspire future generations and connect with audiences around the world,” added Gabriela Mena
