Pc/nametag’s six ways to gamify attendee networking
Looking for activities that help attendees break the ice and turn introductions into meaningful connections? Here are six ways to gamify networking at your next event.
1. Host a badge ribbon scavenger hunt: Use badge ribbons to create an interactive game. Attendees can earn ribbons by visiting exhibitor booths, exploring venue zones, completing challenges or starting conversations with people they haven't met before.
2. Create a "decorate your badge" station: Let attendees express their personalities by customizing their badges. Offer supplies such as markers, stickers, washi tape and adhesive gems. Attendees can also choose conversation-starting pins for their lanyards or ribbons for their badges.
3. Create an interactive passport game: Provide a physical or digital "passport" that requires stamps, stickers, signatures or “secret words” from locations around the venue. Attendees complete their passport by visiting sponsor booths, exploring venue zones and participating in designated networking hubs.
4. Play a round of networking bingo: Hand out bingo cards featuring different attendee traits or skills, such as "speaks two languages," "uses AI daily" "first-time attendee." Attendees can ask peers to sign the matching squares and earn a winning row. Completed cards can be exchanged for raffle tickets.
5. Set up a speed networking area: Create a dedicated zone where attendees are paired for three-minute conversations. When the buzzer sounds, participants move on to a new connection. Place conversation prompts at each table to help keep discussions flowing.
6. Get attendees involved with live quizzes: Break up general sessions with quizzes attendees can join from their phones. Questions could cover previous sessions, industry topics or general knowledge. Add a leaderboard to introduce a layer of friendly competition.
Don’t overlook badge design. Creative name badges, ribbons and pins can help spark conversations and encourage interaction throughout your event.
